Johannesburg - An estimated 30 000 car sector workers are set to down tools as they aim to for a double-digit salary increase, a report said on Saturday.
Eyewitness News (EWN) reported that from Monday, National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa) members in the car sector will be on an indefinite national strike.
As well as higher salaries, workers are also demanding an improvement in housing subsidies and medical aid.
EWN reported Numsa general secretary Irvin Jim as saying that although a strike notice had been issued to employers, consultations will resume this weekend.
