Johannesburg - South Africa's headline consumer inflation slowed sharply to 3.9% y/o/y in February from 4.4% in January, data from Statistics South Africa showed on Wednesday.
Prices were up 0.6% m/o/m, having contracted by 0.2% previously.
Core inflation, which excludes the prices of food, non-alcoholic beverages, petrol and energy, was unchanged at 5.8% y/o/y, but quickened to 1.3% m/o/m from 0.4%.
