Johannesburg - Entrepreneur Nomaxabiso Majokweni has been
appointed the new chief executive of Business Unity SA (Busa), the organisation
said on Thursday.
"She brings a wealth of experience from the private and
public sectors, and has demonstrated her passion for and commitment to South
African business in several of her previous roles," Busa president Futhi
Mtoba said in a statement.
She would take office on September 1.
"We are impressed by her strategic insights, grasp of
broad business issues and her acute awareness of the transformation imperatives
of our country," Mtoba said.
Majokweni had served as chief executive of the Sandton
Convention Centre and was one of the first economic representatives posted
abroad by the trade and industry department after the 1994 elections.
She served in Hong Kong between 1996 and 1999 and in
Washington DC between 2000 and 2002.
Busa was created in 2003 to ensure that businesses play a constructive role in the South Africa's economic growth, development and transformation.
