Johannesburg - The Black Management Forum’s decision to
withdraw its membership from Business Unity SA (Busa) was unfortunate and
unnecessary, Busa said on Wednesday.
“It is always regrettable if our membership cannot reach
common ground amongst themselves, but where this occurs it requires commitment
from all parties to overcome,” Busa said.
The BMF withdrew from Busa on Monday.
The decision was made at a board meeting on June 25, because
of the around 50 organisations making up Busa, only 10 votes went to black
business, the BMF said.
Busa’s recent comments on labour law reforms, labour brokers
and its stance on good governance in the process to appoint its new CEO were
examples of “how far behind Busa is on embracing transformation and good governance", the BMF said.
Busa on Wednesday said it was committed to non-racialism and
the transformation of society.
“Backed by a solid and expanding membership base, our
efforts in this regard will continue to strengthen, as it has over the years of
our existence, since our establishment.”
Busa said it was continuously improving its structure and
the way it operated and interacted with its members, and would continue with its
advocacy and representational role in areas such as economic growth and job
creation.
Busa was formed in 2003 when the Black Business Council and Business South Africa united.
