Cape Town - No residential homes, including those of President Jacob Zuma and Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa, are excluded from Eskom's interruption of power supplies, says Public Enterprises Minister Lynne Brown.
DA MP Natasha Michael, the official opposition's public enterprises spokesperson, asked whether the homes of the president and deputy president, ministers and members of the Eskom board are excluded from "load shedding.

Brown, in a written parliamentary reply, said: "Some homes in South Africa are supplied by Eskom, while others are supplied by municipalities."
For homes supplied by Eskom, load shedding is implemented according to the required regulatory code of practice. In terms of that standard "exemptions from load shedding are only granted under exceptional circumstances and only for critical loads as defined in the code". For example, Metro Rail and bulk water supplies could be excluded.
"In particular, no residential homes supplied by Eskom, including those cited in this question, are exempt from load shedding," said the minister.
