Cape Town - Black farmers' agricultural organisation the United South African Agricultural Association (USAAA) has rapped the minister and director-general (DG) of rural development and land reform over the knuckles for holding discussions concerning the row about land reform and property rights exclusively with white commercial farmers.
The statement issued makes a call on the minister and the DG to get together with the organisation's black farmers, and not merely to assume that a solution can be reached by speaking to white farmers alone.
The establishment of a working group with white commercial farmers alone undermines the important role black commercial, small and subsistence farmers play. It makes a mockery of the development and empowerment objectives being pursued, said the statement.
