Johannesburg - Bank CEOs and the ANC economic transformation
committee have held a private meeting, the Banking Association of South Africa
said on Tuesday.
"Yes, a meeting was held... but I can't say what it was
about, it was a private meeting," said spokesperson Sandisiwe Gugushe.
The meeting was held at the Banking Association of SA's
offices in Johannesburg on Monday.
Gugushe confirmed that bank CEOs and the ANC economic policy
committee, including Enoch Godongwana, attended.
Business Day reported on Tuesday that bank heads had raised
their concerns about the ANC's economic policy discussion documents.
The documents were released last month ahead of the ANC's
policy conference in June.
Business Day quoted Godongwana as saying: "We can
confirm that we did meet with them at their request. They said they want to
make a detailed presentation on some of the views in our policy documents."
The ANC discussion documents include papers on economic transformation and development finance institutions.
