Cape Town - Mineral Resources Minister Susan
Shabangu will invite applications on revoked or lapsed mining rights in
the Government Gazette with the first round of bidding due to take place
before the end of June.
Presenting her budget vote speech in Parliament on Thursday, Shabangu said the rules relating to the auctioning of the revoked or lapsed rights would be detailed in the gazetted notice and that they would be in line with the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act.
Shabangu first called for comments on the issue of revoked or lapsed mining rights during the February Mining Indaba.
