Johannesburg - A meeting between the labour department, platinum mining companies and the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (Amcu) has been rescheduled, Labour Minister Mildred Oliphant's office said on Thursday.
The meeting set down for Friday would now take place at a later date, ministerial spokesperson Musa Zondi said.
"Amcu has advised the ministry that it will revert with a date that would be suitable for talks, and have not confirmed attendance on the date [Friday] as proposed by the minister."
As soon as a new date had been agreed on, a further announcement would be made.
Members of Amcu at Lonmin [JSE:LON], Anglo Platinum (Amplats) [JSE:AMS] and Impala Platinum (Implats) [JSE:IMP] mines, went on strike on Thursday.
They were pushing for an entry-level monthly salary of R12 500.
