Alarm bells for car buyers

Captain Collette Weilbach said on Thursday that five cases were being investigated by the Villieria, Pretoria Central, and Sinoville police stations.

Fraudsters were waiting around car dealerships pretending to be sales personnel. They duped would-be buyers into paying them money, purportedly in exchange for a discount on a car they were interested in.

Weilbach advised potential buyers to speak directly with dealerships to ensure the transaction was legal.
