Johannesburg - Suspicions about lease agreements granted to Manaka Property Investments will be probed, civil rights group AfriForum said on Monday.
It wanted to ascertain whether the proper tender procedure was followed, the organisation's Gauteng spokesperson Tiaan Esterhuizen said.
Limpopo Premier Cassel Mathale and the chairperson of Parliament's finance portfolio committee Thaba Mufamadi are directors of Manaka.
The company was granted lease agreements for Statistics SA, and the departments of home affairs and water affairs.
Esterhuizen said AfriForum had met the department of public works and asked for access, by the end of September, to documents relating to the authorisation of the tenders.
"Should public works not meet our request, or should we come across any irregularities in the reports, we would consider taking legal action," Esterhuizen said.
Comment from the premier's office could not be immediately obtained.
