THE one image from last week’s violence in Parliament which was, more than anything else, burned on my retina, was not so much the scuffling and fisticuffs between the security guards and the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) caucus.
It was our own Dear Leader, President Jacob Zuma’s reaction. While the drama was happening, the president sat down behind the lectern and giggled. With unadulterated glee.
He clearly relished the spectacle of the EFF, as Minister Blade Nzimande put it afterwards while striking his one fist into the other open hand, being “taught who was in control”. It made me sick.
