Johannesburg - T-Sec chief economist Mike Schüssler says the chances of a recession in South Africa are 50/50.
"There is a chance of a recession here and whether there is one or not I would say is 50/50," he said during a seminar on Wednesday.
"There is a slowdown and there may be a chance of a recession, but remember the business cycle still exists and when you're in the cycle, recession does come up," he explains.
However, Schussler concluded by emphasising that the nature of a cycle means it will also turn positive at some stage.
