Johannesburg - About 2 000 workers affiliated to NUM (national union of mineworkers) went on strike at Impala Platinum's Marula mine on Friday demanding higher wages, a company spokesperson said.
"We had a work stoppage on Friday morning.
"We're talking to the union and the workers and trying to resolve it," said spokesperson Johan Theron.
"It does seem like ... they are unhappy with the wage deal that they got last year."
