Cape Town - Women often take on the burden of debt in households because of the natural instinct to rescue, nurture and protect, said debt counsellor Karen Augustyn.
She was discussing in a video interview with Fin24 how easy it is for couples to let debt control and hamper their relationships.

She also blamed the media for leading people to believe things like retail therapy is good for them. "We (now) think the way to deal with our stress situation is to go out and shop".
