Top SAA executive to leave

Feb 25 2011 08:13
Johannesburg - SA Airways (SAA) executive Chris Smyth is leaving the airline to take up a position in the information technology sector, the Business Day reported on Friday.

It was not known who would replace him, SAA spokesperson Fani Zulu told the publication.

Smyth, who was the airline's general manager of operations, was due to take up a post as a chief financial officer of a JSE listed company from April 1.

He had been with the national carrier since 2006 and was the last remaining member of the former CEO Khaya Ngqula's executive.

Ngqula was axed from SAA in 2009 after being accused of financial mismanagement.
