Cape Town - South African Airways (SAA) announced in a statement on Wednesday that all flights to Blantyre in Malawi have been temporarily suspended.
This follows the closure of the airport in Blantyre for urgent runway repairs and maintenance, said spokesperson Tlali Tlali.
SAA said it regrets the inconvenience to customers, offering them three options:
- Those customers who do not wish to travel to Blantyre anymore will be fully refunded, with all penalties waived.
- Customers wishing to travel to/from Lilongwe on SAA’s service, and who elects to make their own way to/from Blantyre, can do so (at their own cost, between Lilongwe and Blantyre)
- Customers will be rebooked who wish to postpone their travel to/from Blantyre until the airport is re-opened.
SAA offers 24 destinations across the African continent including Abidjan, Brazzaville, Cotonou, Dakar, Dar es Salaam, Harare and Kinshasa.
