Johannesburg - The number of flights on popular summer holiday routes would be increased to cater for the summer holiday demand, SA Airways said on Sunday.

"Flight frequency to Mumbai and Nairobi is increased while additional capacity is added on routes to Brazil, Cape Town and Mauritius to cater for summer holidays demand," SAA said in a statement.

Direct flights between Johannesburg and Mumbai will be available any day of the week from October 3.

"The route is serviced with an A330-200 Airbus, one of SAA's newest and most fuel-efficient aircraft, with 36 business and 186 economy class seats."

Some of the additional flights added ahead of the peak summer season are flights to Kenya and Brazil.

Travellers are encouraged to make bookings early.
