Johannesburg – South African Airways Technical (Saat), a subsidiary of SAA, has signed a five years agreement with SR Technics, part of the Mubadala Aerospace MRO network, to extend their long-term cooperation covering all CFM 56-5C engines of the airline’s Airbus A340 fleet.
The extension will run until 2018 and builds on the relationship forged over the past few years. All work will be carried out in SR Technics’ facilities in Zurich.
SAA is a key customer of SR Technics in Africa.
“As a subsidiary of the SAA Group, the relationship we have with SRT compliments Saat's strategy to strengthen our capabilities and thus enabling us to expand in our operations," said Musa Zwane, the chief executive officer of Saat.
"We are excited about the prospect of working together with SRT in this specialist area of the industry. Even more, this agreement allows us to drive the bottom line from a cost perspective.”
According to André Wall, president of SR Technics, the renewed contract shows the price competitiveness and excellent global service levels in terms of quality and reliability.
"Thanks to the extensive in-house repair capabilities, we can offer extremely short turnaround times and a tailor-made customer service," he said.
