Frankfurt - Germany's tourism industry has notched up its fifth record year in a row, figures released by the German Statistics Office on Tuesday showed.
In 2014, 424 million overnight stays by tourists and business travellers were recorded, an increase of 3% on the previous year.
The main driving factor for the increase was more people arriving from abroad, the government office said, with an increase in foreign visitors of 5% over 2013 to reach 75.5 million overnight stays last year.
Domestic German tourism rose by 3% compared with 2013 to 348.5 million overnight stays in 2014.
The figures relate to guesthouses and hotels with at least 10 beds.
