Limpopo shines at tourism awards

Johannesburg - Tourism products in Limpopo won three of the seven national Lilizela tourism awards in various categories.

These are the Fusion Boutique Hotel in Polokwane which won the category for 5 star hotels in the first hotel category, the Limpopo Guest Manor in Polokwane which won entrepreneur of the year in the category for emerging tourism and Tshamane Isaiah Banda won the category for nature tourist guides.

Mmabogoshi Msiza of the Limpopo Guest Manor is the winner of the national ETEYA (Emerging Tourism Entrepreneur of the Year) award for 2015/16, scooping the R100 000 prize money as the overall winner.

Her establishment also scooped the inaugural MEC’s Choice Award during the provincial leg of the awards.

MEC for Limpopo Economic Development, Environment and Tourism (Ledet) Seaparo Sekoati lead the Limpopo delegation to the national awards ceremony.

“The scooping of these awards by the three tourism products gets to show that we as people from Limpopo still have the winning prowess to contest and win such highly contested national competitions. They have done us proud and we encourage others to follow in their footsteps and do better,” said Sekoati.

Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) acting CEO Seipati Tlaka said “winning these awards gets to show the quality of the tourism products we have in Limpopo. This will indeed go a long way into putting our province on the tourism map”.
