Franschhoek - Virgin Limited Edition, Sir Richard Branson’s worldwide luxury collection of retreats, has entered into a preliminary agreement to purchase the Mont Rochelle Hotel and Mountain Vineyard in Franschhoek.
“I’m thrilled to be able to announce that we have entered into a sales agreement for Mont Rochelle and what I’m sure will be a ‘must visit’ winelands experience in South Africa," Branson said in a statement.
Branson also ownes the Ulusaba Private Game Reserve near the Kruger National Park.
Tara Whiting and Marius Botha of Acquire Africa, who facilitated the preliminary agreement of sale, believe this is evidence that South Africa is thriving as a tourist destination.
They are positive that the Virgin Limited Edition will attract even more tourists to the region's wine and culinary tourism, a growing niche sector of the tourism market worldwide.
Other properties which form part of the Virgin Limited Edition include Necker Island, the Roof Gardens and Babylon Restaurant in London, the Kasbah Tamadot in Morocco, the Lodge in Verbier, Switzerland and Mahali Mzuri, a tented safari camp in Kenya.
