Johannesburg - Airports Company SA (Acsa) has appointed OR Tambo International's general manager Tebogo Mekgoe as its first chief operating officer, it said on Monday.
"Mekgoe has extensive aviation and managerial experience, gained through the various positions he has held within Airports Company South Africa," chief executive Bongani Maseko said in a statement.
"This appointment follows the company's decision to create a new leadership structure and is a strategic decision by the business to address operational efficiencies and effectiveness."
As general manager of OR Tambo International, Mekgoe helped the airport meet its business objectives, said Maseko.
Mekgoe currently serves on Acsa's group executive committee and is a member of the group operations committee.
The company would announce Mekgoe's replacement in due course.
