Johannesburg - Standard Bank said its Johannesburg head office buildings are safe for staff to return to work, following an evacuation due to a bomb threat.
Standard Bank's imposing Sauer Street head office was evacuated around 15:00 on Monday after an employee allegedly placed a bomb on its premises.
"Standard Bank is satisfied that the buildings are safe and staff have been advised to report for work as usual on Tuesday morning," said spokesperson Erik Larsen. "There is no substance at all to early reports that the employee concerned had been retrenched and was armed. The employee is receiving counselling and is under professional care."
