Sasol [JSE:SOL] has bid
for two licensing areas off the Mozambique coast, said Mozambique's National
Petroleum Institute (INP).
INP closed its fourth International Licensing Round last week.
The round commenced November 4 2009 and companies had seven and half months to evaluate
the available technical data and formulate their applications for seven areas.
INP
said it received bids from six international companies, including Sasol.
Sasol has bid for the Banhine and Mazenga areas.
The round is a competitive bid process and INP will now evaluate the submitted applications on
defined criteria, which include the health safety and environmental, the financial
strength, technical competence and capability and economic terms offered to the
Mozambican state.
INP anticipates that it will announce the final results by the end of
September.
