As far as repayments on home loans are concerned, South Africans are in a much more favourable position than their foreign peers.
Johannesburg - South African Breweries (SAB) will provide beer at the Fifa Fan Fests during the 2010 Fifa World Cup, the company said on Wednesday.
"SAB will be providing a limited run of lager and a light lager
in the Fifa Fan Fests, and will provide stock and support to the
organisers of the areas," SAB said in a statement.
This followed an agreement between SAB, the host cities and
Fifa.
Recently Anheuser-Busch Inbev, the brewer of Budweiser - the
official beer sponsor of the World Cup - decided not to take up
the opportunity of providing beer in Fifa's Fan Fests, although the company would still be using their pouring rights within the
stadiums.
SAB estimated that the fan fest areas would account for between
40 000 and 50 000 hectalitres of beer sold, which totalled between eight million and ten million beers.
The ten Fifa Fan Fests will be the official public viewing
events staged by each of the host cities together with Fifa and the local organising committee.
SAB said it was confident it had more than enough capacity to
host the additional visitors who were expected for the World Cup, as well as any increase in per capita consumption by South
Africans.
Brewing would be increased in April and May ahead of the event
to ensure there was reserve stock.
All seven of its breweries would be "well equipped" to manage
any shortages.
