Johannesburg - Global retailer Krispy Kreme has announced that its first store in SA will be opened in Rosebank, Johannesburg, at a location yet to be disclosed.
This marks the company’s first venture into Africa. In May it signed a development agreement with local company Krispy Kreme Doughnuts South Africa to open 31 Krispy Kreme shops in the country over the next five years.
People visiting the store will have an option of 16 different doughnuts, as well as a variety of locally roasted coffee flavours.
“We are delighted to bring the joy of Krispy Kreme doughnuts to the ‘City of Gold’. We have found the perfect spot for our first store and will announce its exact location closer to the opening," said Gerry Thomas, CEO of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts South Africa.
Currently, Krispy Kreme can be found in more than 1 000 shops in 24 countries.
“The city of Johannesburg is widely considered the window into the African market and is a melting pot of cultures, races as well as nationalities. It was only natural than that Africa’s economic hub be chosen as the first home for the first ever Krispy Kreme store in Africa," said Thomas.
“As the date of the first store opening draws nearer, we are excited to be a part of bringing this iconic global brand’s vision, to be the worldwide leader in sharing delicious tastes and creating joyful memories, to South Africans.”
