Johannesburg - Following a highly publicised legal battle
and intense public scrutiny, property mogul Wendy Machanik's multimillion rand
Atholl home will be taken to auction in an urgent sale.
The Atholl, Sandton, house will go on auction on July 15.
Machanik was well known in the property industry, with a
national footprint and offices in Tel Aviv, Israel. She is accused, among other
things, of conspiracy to commit fraud involving R25m.
Following a forensic investigation by risk management firm
Pasco, it is alleged that Machanik made irregular transfers from the trust
account to Wendy Machanik Property's business account to keep the business
afloat, pay salaries and fund her lifestyle.
Designed by world-renowned architect Bridget Grosskopff, the
home is situated on a double stand in a secure, gated complex. Built by
Machanik in 2004, the home boasts immaculate finishes and features four bedroom
suites that surround an open atrium with water features and private gardens.
According to Craig Berman of Auction Alliance, the property
has attracted widespread interest due to its high-profile nature and the fact
that it is an urgent sale.
"This property will be sold on the fall of the hammer,
subject to a reserve. Due to the recent hype around Wendy Machanik's court case
we expect a very exciting auction."
