Cape Town - More than 80% of the units in the No. 2 Silo residential development in the V&A Waterfront have been sold within five months.
Only five of the 31 units are still available.
The available units all have two bedrooms and prices range between R4.295m and R8.925m (inclusive of VAT).
About 30% of the buyers are foreign nationals and the rest are SA citizens.
Some of of the purchasers are well known globally, but their identities are confidential.
The No. 2 Silo development is the first new residential offering in the V&A in over a decade.
Set on the water’s edge in the historical Grain Silo Heritage site, No. 2 Silo offers picturesque views over the harbour, sea, city and mountains.
In its entirety the development includes No. 1 Silo, with 18 000m² triple A-grade office space and No. 2 Silo with 31 luxurious one and two-bedroom apartments.
The apartments range in size from 70m² to 157m². Plans are also in place for further development of the old Grain Silo.
No. 2 Silo is marked by minimalist architecture, three meter high ceilings emphasising the spaciousness of each open plan apartment and floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors add a light and airy element.
Environmental innovations also feature.
Each apartment boasts external solar shading, sea water cooling, a centralised solar heated hot water system, high performance thermal and acoustic insulated glass, low energy lighting, water-efficient showers and toilets, energy and water-efficient kitchen appliances and even a website allowing homeowners to track and manage their water and energy consumption.
To make the most of the views, the rooftop has been converted into a communal leisure area complete with an ozonated swimming pool.
“A central vision for the V&A Waterfront has always been to create a complete lifestyle," said David Green, CEO of the V&A Waterfront.
