Johannesburg - Hundreds of Gauteng Pick n Pay workers on Friday were picketing at Rhodes Park in Kensington against alleged racism within the company.
Dressed in red t-shirts protesters were singing struggle songs and yielding placards.
One of the placards read: "Pick n Pay inspired by racism".
SA Commercial Catering and Allied Workers Union shop steward Vulisango Gomana said racism was rife within Pick n Pay across the country.
He said opportunities such as promotion and recognition for working hard were only given to white people.
"Black people get paid less compared to their white counterparts while they are doing the same job."
Gomano said they were calling on the company to do away with racism and to introduce skills development throughout their branches.
The marchers will hand over a memorandum of their grievances at the head office of Pick n Pay in Kensington.
They will then go back to work on Saturday and wait 14 days for the company to respond.
