Johannesburg - Jan van Niekerk has assumed the role as CEO of Peregrine Holdings [JSE:PGR], the group announced on Tuesday.
The CEO designate and deputy CEO of the group since April last year, Van Niekerk succeeds Sean Melnick, who stepped down as chair of Peregrine last year to take up the reins as CEO.
Melnick has been appointed deputy chair of the group.
The group said that Van Niekerk assumes responsibility for all of the group's day to day operations and that the functioning of the group will continue to be augmented by an executive committee comprising several key individuals within the organisation.
