Johannesburg - Absa [JSE:ASA] on Tuesday announced the appointment of Tshiwela Mhlantla as the managing executive of personal loans.

Tshiwela takes over the reigns from Lawrence Twigg who has taken up his new role as the managing executive of Entry Level Banking.

During the past five months, Tshiwela has been exposed to the Personal Loans business in her capacity as deputy managing executive.

She has working experience coupled with an academic qualifications which include B.

Juris and L.L.B from the University of Durban Westville in KwaZulu-Natal. 

Tshiwela's working career started in April 1996 when she joined First National Trust as a Deceased Estate and Trust Liquidator.

She later moved to Sanlam Trust to expand her career and gained a wealth of experience as an Estate and Trust Consultant.

From there, she moved to Sanlam Life as a Business Development Manager responsible for a team of Financial Advisers. 

In 2004, Tshiwela joined Absa as a Sales Manager where she occupied various leadership positions in the Eastern Cape.
