Johannesburg - Nedbank Group said on Friday that following the announcement of a new group executive committee (Exco) structure in August 2009, two remaining appointments have been made to Exco.

Ciko Thomas, 40, joins the group with effect from 18 January 2010 as Group Executive: Group Marketing, Communications and Corporate Affairs. Ciko has wide-ranging marketing and business experience in financial services, and the consumer goods and motor industries. He joins Nedbank from Barloworld where he was the Group Marketing Director of the Automotive Division. Ciko was previously General Manager of Retail Banking Marketing at Absa Group.

John Bestbier, 54, has been appointed with effect from 1 January 2010 as Group Executive: Strategic Planning. John is an investment banker with extensive experience in the financial services industry having led a number of complex transactions on behalf of the group, including the 2004 rights issue, the disposal of non-core assets, the Imperial Bank transaction announced last year and the acquisition of the bancassurance joint ventures from Old Mutual. He has been with the group since 2003 and prior to that was an executive director at NIB and UAL.

Both of these positions report to the Chief Operating Officer, Graham Dempster.
