Strike hits other miners

Johannesburg - Gold miner Village Main Reef Gold Mining Company [JSE:VIL] has advised that an unprotected strike at its Blyvooruitzicht operations commenced on Thursday morning.

The strike action results from a dispute between the members and leadership of the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) and the Association of Mining and Construction Workers Union (Amcu) at the operations‚ the company said.

“Blyvoor management continues to try and resolve the matter. In the interim Village will approach the court for an interdict and will issue a first ultimatum to all Blyvoor employees today‚” it said.
