Royal Bafokeng expects lower Heps

Johannesburg - Royal Bafokeng Platinum (RBPlat) on Friday advised that it anticipates headline earnings per share for the six months ended June 2011 to be between 95 cents and 110c, based on a weighted average number of 163.68 million shares, from 132c previously.

The group said it expected earnings per share to be between 95c and 110c from 132c in 2010

The 2010 period was based on a weighted average number of 137.06 million shares

The increase in the weighted average number of shares of 26.6 million resulted from shares issued in November 2010, as part of the initial public offering and listing of the RBPlat's entire issued share capital on the JSE, the group said.

Royal Bafokeng added that the results were also impacted by the new higher level of amortisation and depreciation charge related to the fair value adjustment, a non-recurring optimisation project cost and a non-recurring income inflow from the settlement of intercompany balances.

It said that based on the latest estimate, after taking account of the above-mentioned items the normalised earnings per share for the six months ended June 30 2011 were anticipated to be between 110c and 130c.

RBPlat expects to release its interim results on about August 16.
