Cape Town - Members of the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) have stopped working at Anglo American's Kleinkopje coal mine in Mpumalanga on Wednesday, demanding the removal of the general manager.
The NUM members are calling for the removal of a general manager they claim has made several changes without consulting with the union.
"All the changes he made must be reversed and the consultation process must commence," NUM said in a statement.
NUM spokesperson Livhuwani Mammburu told Reuters that workers are on strike, but could not say when the strike began or how many miners were involved.
NUM has cited several issues under dispute, including recruitment procedures, placement of a health and safety representative, bonus pay and other restructuring processes.
