Johannesburg - Enver Motala has refused to testify against
Aurora's directors until his bid to be reinstated as Pamodzi Gold liquidator
has been heard, Solidarity said on Tuesday.
"Motala notified... the presiding officer that in light
of the fact that he still has to attend the application to be reinstated as a
liquidator, he will not testify until his matter is heard in the high court in
Pretoria," the trade union said on Tuesday.
"This is a delaying tactic because he (Motala) was
removed as a liquidator from all national panels, so he cannot be reinstated in
Pamodzi."
Motala was supposed to testify in the Pretoria High Court on Wednesday. The hearing follows irregularities involving Aurora Empowerment
Systems.
Motala and another liquidator were subsequently removed from
the Pamodzi Gold case, and Aurora's bid for Pamodzi cancelled.
Testimony would cover Aurora's actions when it was in charge
of Pamodzi Gold's mines in Grootvlei, Springs, in Gauteng and in Orkney in the
North West.
The case is closed to the media.
Solidarity official Gideon du Plessis said Wednesday's court
proceedings would be postponed because Motala was the only witness to testify.
Motala was not immediately available for comment.
