Miner killed in Harmony Gold fire

Cape Town - A worker has been found dead following an underground fire at Harmony Gold Mining Company's [JSE:HAR] Phakisa mine, the company said on Thursday.

Rescue teams recovered the body of the mine worker who went missing after a fire started at the mine on Tuesday afternoon.

Harmony's chief executive officer, Graham  Briggs expressed his condolences to the relatives and friends of the deceased.

"The cause of the fire is still unknown and the containment and efforts to extinguish the underground fire are ongoing", the company added.
