Johannesburg - Workers who did not report for duty at Impala Platinum Holdings [JSE:IMP] Rustenburg mine on Wednesday will be dismissed, the company said.

The majority of employees who embarked on a salary-related strike did not arrive at work, Implats spokesman Bob Gilmour said in a statement.

"Incidents of intimidation have been reported across the property. As the strike has been declared illegal, the company, in line with its ultimatum, will initiate dismissal procedures."

Implats would rehire those employees who reapplied for their position.

Last month 5 000 workers were fired for striking at the same mine.
