Johannesburg - Harmony Gold's Kusasalethu mine on the West
Rand remained closed on Thursday as workers barricaded the entrance, the
company said.
"This morning there was some intimidation,"
spokesperson Marian van der Walt said.
"A small group of workers barricaded the entrance to the mine."
She said despite this, the strike, involving most of the mine's 5 400 workers, remained non-violent.
Van der Walt said management would not apply for an
interdict against the workers.
"They still haven't returned to work."
The strike began on Tuesday night, when a group of about 300
men prevented night shift workers from going underground.
Van Der Walt said talks between workers and management were ongoing, but any wage negotiations would take place within the Chamber of Mines' collective framework.
