Johannesburg - Shares of South African gold producers rallied as the spot price of the precious metal jumped more than 2%.
Gold Fields [JSE:GFI] shares were the biggest gainer on Top 40 - (Tradeable) [JSE:J200] index, adding 4.33% to R63.62. Bigger rival AngloGold Ashanti [JSE:ANG], Africa's top bullion producer, climbed more than 3%.
Harmony Gold Mining Company [JSE:HAR] was up 3.52% to R46.67 after hitting eight-year lows last week. Sibanye Gold was almost 3% higher.
