Johannesburg - The four-week strike at
Evraz Highveld Steel & Vanadium (EHS) came to an end‚ following
an agreement between the company and the National Union of
Metalworkers of SA (Numsa)‚ its biggest union.
The main issue‚ converting the
three-shift system to a four-shift system‚ had been resolved and
all operational employees had reported for duty on Monday on the new
four-shift system‚ the company said on Monday.
An agreement had been reached on a
compensation adjustment for employees who would suffer loss of
overtime earnings due to the change of the shift structure.
The steelworks would start up on Monday
and should be fully operational by the end of August. The company
said it would now focus on meeting all order commitments.
