Fatality at AngloGold’s Mponeng mine

The deceased‚ an electrician‚ was electrocuted while conducting the quarterly inspection and testing of a mini substation at approximately 8.40am on Sunday morning‚ the company said.

The Department of Mineral Resources and other relevant parties have been notified and an in loco inspection was conducted on Sunday afternoon. Further investigations into the incident will continue.

Management is working with the employee’s relatives to assist them through this difficult time‚ the company said.
