Johannesburg - A Harmony Gold Mining Company [JSE:HAR] mineworker was killed on the job on Wednesday, the company said.
He died in a blasting accident at Saaiplaas Three demolition site, close to Virginia in the Free State, said spokesperson Henrika Basterfield.
"Investigations are currently underway to establish the cause of the accident," she said. No other workers were injured.
Basterfield said this was the first death of a Harmony worker this year.
"Harmony’s CEO Graham Briggs and his management team express their sincere condolences to the families and colleagues of the deceased," she said.
