Johannesburg - ArcelorMittal SA [JSE:ACL], a unit of the world’s top steelmaker, said on Wednesday it has received a notice from local government to cease operation at some units at its Vanderbijlpark plant on environmental concerns.

“The Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development alleges that these units do not comply with certain conditions of the air emission licence for the Vanderbijlpark plant,” the company said in a statement.
