Johannesburg - Anglo American [JSE:AGL] said on Tuesday it has halted operations at its South African coal mines due to a wage strike which started with the late shift on Sunday.
“There is still no production at all the Anglo American-owned mines,” said Moeketsi Mofokeng, spokesperson at the thermal coal unit.
Talks between unions and employers resumed on Tuesday in a bid to end the strike. Mofokeng said the company would need 24 hours to get its operations back to normal once the strike ends.
