Johannesburg - Shares of world no. 1 platinum producer Anglo American Platinum [JSE:AMS] fell after the company's financial director Bongani Nqwababa resigned to take the same role at petrochemicals giant Sasol.
Amplats' shares closed down 2.47% at R368.20. It was earlier in the day the second biggest decliner on the Top-40 index.
Amplats said in a statement Nqwababa's departure takes effect in March next year and that it is looking for a replacement.
Bongani joined the company in 2009 and managed the overall financial function.
Amplats CEO Chris Griffith thanked Nqwababa for his commitment and diligence over the last six years.
"He has worked tirelessly during a tumultuous period for the platinum industry and we will wish him well when he moves to his new role, following our reporting season in early 2015."
