Johannesburg - Operations at the Anglo Platinum [JSE:AMS] (Amplats) Tumela Mine, in Amandelbult, Limpopo, has returned to normal following an underground strike, the company said on Monday.
"The situation has been normal for days," spokesperson Mpumi Sithole said.
She said the 169 striking workers returned to the surface on Thursday night.
They began an underground sit-in on Monday, demanding to see managers to discuss grievances relating to bonuses.
Workers also reported for duty on Friday at Amplats, in Rustenburg, North West, after an earlier threat to embark on a wildcat strike over looming retrenchments.
"We are waiting for the final word this weekend. We want the company to reverse its decision to retrench 6000 workers," workers' committee chairman Gaddafhi Mdoda said on Friday.
Plans for a the strike were suspended on Thursday.
The committee said if Amplats could not run the mines it should surrender them to another company, which would save jobs.
Amplats recently announced that it would cut 6000 jobs instead of the 14 000 it predicted in January.
The workers' committee led a strike last year, demanding a monthly salary of R16 000.
On Monday, Sithole said the unions had not contacted the company about retrenchments.
"The final communication still stands," she said.
