Johannesburg - JSE-listed software and computer services group Business Connexion (BCX) heads the list of companies holding their annual general meetings (AGMs) this week.

The meeting takes place in Midrand on Tuesday and shareholders should be looking forward to this one as it is still possible that Bytes Technologies might put an offer on the table for BCX after the Competition Tribunal blocked Telkom's 925c offer to shareholders for BCX last year.

Mining company Miranda Mineral Holdings (MMH), which saw two of its directors Karl Gribnitz and chairperson Thabo Mokgatlha resigning last week, holds its AGM on Wednesday together with newly listed (2007) construction and materials company Sea Kay Holdings.

On Thursday, four AGMs take place, but Barloworld's meeting is the only one happening in Johannesburg. The group has operations in 31 countries around the world and Public Investment Corporation is the majority shareholder with 17.3%.

In 2007, Barloworld made headlines when Trevor Munday was appointed deputy to chairperson Dumisa Ntsebeza. The deputy position had been frozen for a decade, and Barloworld was criticised for being patronising. Following the controversy, Munday resigned.

Asset management company Coronation Fund Managers, which manages funds of more than R130bn will be holdings its AGM in Cape Town, as investment company Trematon Capital Investments.

Mining company Lonmin has scheduled its 99th AGM in London.

To round off the week, software and computer services group UCS holds its meeting in Johannesburg. The group provides more than 95% of South African retailers with IT services and has seen its revenue climbing more than 35% in 2007.
