Johannesburg - Retail chain Woolworths Holdings [JSE:WHL] has announced changes to its senior management structure.
CEO Simon Susman said on Thursday that Ian Moir, who has been with the group for a month, has put together a structure which leads naturally to his position as Susman's successor in November 2010.
"I believe this structure has real merit in enabling Woolworths to continue delivering its strategies even more effectively," Susman added.
Zyda Rylands will assume the responsibility of managing director: foods. This is a new position and Ms Rylands will report to Ian Moir, Managing director: retail and CEO elect while retaining her position on the board of Woolworths Holdings Limited.
Julian Novak will take on a senior position in the foods team. The divisional directors reporting to Ian Moir are as follows:
- Clothing and general merchandise: Brett Kaplan.
- Clothing and general merchandising planning: Paula Disberry.
- Supply chain and Information Technology: Fawza Essa.
- Retail operations: Andrew Levermore.
- Human resources: Matt Keogh.
- Marketing: Charmaine Huet.
Said Ian Moir: "These changes will drive a more focussed business with simpler structures, less complexity and faster decision making. It will assist us to improve execution of the Woolworths strategy. This is a strong and experienced team that will be focused on delivery."
